Photo shoot 1
I feel the simple basic shapes created out of light worked well. The subject of the photo is the light. these photos link to a photographer I researched Michael Basanko. What didn't work well was that it wasn't dark enough and you can see the person creating the image so it would have look more effective if the person wasn't in the image but it didn't really work out. I hade my ISO around 100/200, my shutter speed around 15", so that I had enough time to create the image. The quality of the photo isn't that great and I would like to improve my work on this next time. This was my first photo shoot and attempt at this, hopefully this will be improved next time and the person wont be in the photo it will just be the light painting. This relates to my project on movement because I'm trying to capture the movement of the light and this is how I've chosen to demonstrate movement after looking through some examples and getting inspiration. Rule of third has been used in all of my photos. The colour used is simple and to improve this I'd like to use a different range of lights so there is more colour to make it more interesting. My critiques by peer Gemma Furley
- With all your shapes make sure the top Isn't cropped off
- Add more colour
- Make the shapes more complicated
- Possibly use a darker background
- Try and join the shape up together

Photo shoot 2
This is my second photo shoot on movement using light painting. I have took on board the critiques that my peer has given me, one on my critiques was to use more colour, I did use colours such as blues and red but I haven't used them in my final pieces. I did like some of the coloured ones that I have used but I preferred the pictures with just a normal torch. I tried to make the image more complicated and complex rather than using basic shapes. I've tried joining up the shapes so there are no gaps in the image so it doesn't look as good because last time in my first photo shoot my peace sign would of looked better if it was connected. I have used a darker background to make the image better. In my last photo shoot the dark room was unavailable so I went into the dance studio and the lighting was the great so the images didn't turn out how I would have liked them to. My settings were on ISO 100/200 my aperture was on F.22 and my shutter speed varied from 25" to 30" I had it on a longer shutter speed so I could have more time to create better image. In the photo the image that I have created is a light bulb it relates to my work in light painting just that its a different form, like a light bulb. The use of colour is white/yellowish. The subject matter is the light bulb the bottom of the image has gone a bit to the side which ruins the effect a bit. The relevance that this has to the project movement is that it uses movement in the light. My second image personally is my favourite although its not a proper shape like the others but I find it interesting. There is more detail and more going on in this photo. It is brighter at the top than the bottom. My last final picture is a boat in the sea with a sun, it is in the middle at the top. I think I'd like this more if it were more spread out and had more detail plus colour.

- Try to use more colour if possible
- Spend more time creating an image

Photo shoot 3
This is my final photo shoot my settings were the same as last time. I wanted to use more colour but I had no coloured lights so I wasn't able to do that, I spent longer creating the image so I put the settings of shutter speed on BULB so I could take as long as I want creating the photo. I did do a few complex shapes during my photo shoot but I decided I preferred those three to the other ones because the image was a bit off scale, it didn't really plan out how I would of liked them too. I like the idea of the ying yang symbol. My work relates to Michael Basanko with the idea of movement and light photography but it is slightly different to his work because you can kind of see the background because there is more light exposure. The heart beat photograph I like but it is a bit of scale and if I were to do it again I would have it so it is more in the middle of the photograph and more accurate. I did change the settings during my photo shoot I changed my aperture from f.22 to f.13 to see what it would be like but I soon changed it back. The last photo I really like because its kind of layered and it looks effective when its over lapping and it looks like a rough copy because you can still see the outline of the image and it make the picture look more interesting. I have used the rule of third in this image and tired to get some light into each section so the image looks more full. I also think that were there is more light shining on the last on it makes it look more vibrant.
